THE HOLY SPIRIT AND RESTORATION

Wednesday, April 26, 2017

"People everywhere are telling about the way you accepted us when we were there with you. They tell how you stopped worshiping idols and began serving the living and true God." 1 Thessalonians 1:9

RESTORATION FOR THE INDIVIDUAL

Deuteronomy 30:19-20—it begins with new life!!

Colossians 3:1-4 Paul talks of "Christ, our life."

John 10:7-10 Jesus speaks of "an abundant life."

Quote: "Restoration, for the individual, means to replace spiritual death with spiritual life." James Robinson

Ezekiel 36:25-27 reveals God's desired life and the quality of that life.

This new life depends on growth as reflected by the work of the Holy Spirit:

1. John 16:22-23 ask in His Name!
2. John 17:22 the glory, great verse!
3. Romans 8:13-14 Sons of God!
4. Philippians 1:6 He will complete the work!
5. Philippians 2:12b-13 great scripture!
6. Colossians 1:26-27 the Hope of Glory!

The Holy Spirit is the vehicle in which God uses to continue and perfect the work that began at Salvation.

Quote: "Only one life, t'will soon be past; Only what's done for Christ will last." Anon

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, 20 loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” (ESV)

Colossians 3:1-4

3:1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (ESV)

John 10:7-10

So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (ESV)

Ezekiel 36:25-27

25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. (ESV)

John 16:22-23

22 So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. 23 In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. (ESV)

John 17:22

22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, (ESV)

Romans 8:13-14

13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. (ESV)

Philippians 1:6

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (ESV)

Philippians 2:12-13

12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (ESV)

Colossians 1:26-27

26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. 27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. (ESV)
